What to do before an aesthetic consultation: how to prepare
Written by Douae Elle · October 26, 2026

A first medical aesthetics consultation can feel intimidating. You don't know what to ask, you're worried about being pushed to do more than you need, or you don't even know which treatment suits you. The good news: that's exactly what the consultation is for. Here's how to prepare.
The two consultations at Éclat Aven
- The consultation with a nurse: free, for all our treatments. We listen to your goals, look at your skin and features, and suggest a clear plan, with the price.
- The consultation with a physician: $100, required for first-time injectable patients (neuromodulators (Botox / Dysport), fillers, biostimulator (Sculptra) and lipolysis). It's valid for 2 years. Everything about the physician consultation.
Before the appointment
- Write down what bothers you, in your own words: "I look tired", "my lips are uneven", "my jawline isn't sharp anymore". No need to know treatment names.
- List your medications and supplements, including blood thinners, aspirin, omega-3s and natural products.
- Note your past treatments: what, where and when (filler, neuromodulators, laser, surgery).
- Mention your health conditions: allergies, autoimmune diseases, pregnancy or breastfeeding, recurring cold sores.
- Think about your timeline: a wedding, a trip, a photo shoot? It changes the order of treatments.
- Come without makeup, or plan to remove it, so we can see your skin clearly.
Inspiration photos: yes, but…
Bringing a few photos helps to talk about a mood: more natural, more defined, more rested. But we don't reproduce someone else's face. Every anatomy is different, and our job is to bring out yours.

Questions to ask
- Which treatment do you recommend, and why?
- How many units or syringes, and what's the total price?
- Who will do the injection, and what is their training?
- What should I expect afterward: swelling, bruising, downtime?
- When will I see the result, and how long will it last?
- Is there a follow-up?
- Is there a simpler or less expensive option?
A good clinic answers all of these without hesitation.
What the consultation doesn't commit you to
No consultation, free or paid, commits you to a treatment. You can leave with your plan and think it over. And if a treatment isn't right for you, we'll tell you: that's what we explain in why we don't always say yes.
If you're treated the same day
If you receive a treatment on the day of your consultation, avoid alcohol the night before and, if your doctor agrees, avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatories for a few days before to limit bruising. Never stop a prescribed medication without talking to your doctor.
How much does it cost afterward?
We always give you the price before starting. For an overview, read our price guides: neuromodulators, fillers and lips. Beautifi financing is also available.
