A quick note: "Botox" is a brand name, but everyone uses it to talk about neuromodulators (botulinum toxin type A). At the clinic, we usually say neuromodulators. The prices below apply to the products we offer, such as Botox and Dysport.

At Clinique Éclat Aven, neuromodulators are charged at $12 per unit, with a 20-unit minimum per visit, which is $240. The same price applies at our clinics in Montreal (Little Italy), Boisbriand, Trois-Rivières and Beauharnois.

Why per unit? Because it's the most transparent way to pay for exactly what is injected. A delicate forehead doesn't need the same dose as a deep frown line. A "per area" price often ends up charging one person too much and another too little.

How many units per area?

The ranges below are approximate. The actual dose is determined by the nurse after a medical assessment, based on your muscle strength, anatomy, history and the result you want.

• Forehead: about 8 to 20 units
• Glabella (frown lines): about 15 to 25 units
• Crow's feet: about 10 to 24 units for both sides
• Lip flip: a small dose for the upper lip, offered at a flat price of $150

What affects the price

• The number of areas treated and muscle strength. Men often need more units for the same area.
• The result you want: a very natural effect that keeps some movement doesn't call for the same dose as a stronger effect.
• Follow-up: the full effect appears at around two weeks. A follow-up appointment allows adjustments if needed.
• Frequency: the effect generally lasts 3 to 4 months, but varies from person to person. Your yearly budget therefore depends on how often you come in.

Why a very low price can be a red flag

We understand wanting to shop around. But a price well below the market should lead you to ask a few questions:
