Where to inject filler to lift the face, in Montreal
Written by Douae Elle · October 26, 2026

When people talk about "lifting" the face without surgery, they often assume you need to add volume where things are sagging: the jowls, the smile lines, the lower cheeks. In reality, the goal isn't volume, it's strategy. Well-placed filler restores support to the structure of the face, and that support is what creates a natural lift. Here are the key areas our nurse injectors assess in Montreal, Boisbriand, Trois-Rivières and Beauharnois, and why.
An important truth: filler doesn't "pull" the skin
Hyaluronic acid doesn't lift the skin on its own the way a surgical facelift does. It works by restoring structure in key areas that support the face.
With age, we lose bone and fat volume, especially at the temples, the cheeks and around the jawline. With less support, the tissues slide downward. Restoring support higher up and on the sides of the face is often what softens what we see lower down.
That's also why filling a jowl or a smile line directly isn't always a good idea: it can weigh down the lower face, which is the opposite of the effect you want.
1. The temples: the forgotten anchor point

Volume loss at the temples hollows the upper face and can make you look older. The temples also support the tail of the brow and the top of the cheek. A targeted treatment helps restore volume and harmonize the contours of the face: the eyes look more open and the face looks less tired.
2. The cheeks: supporting the midface

Supporting the middle third of the face helps refine contours and creates a subtle lifting effect. A small amount placed on the cheekbone, towards the outside, can soften the look of smile lines and under-eye hollows without even treating those areas.
The goal: respect the natural proportions of the face, not create "Instagram filter" cheeks. More on cheek filler.
3. The chin and jawline: defining the lower face

Strategic placement can improve the definition of the profile and the balance of the face. Along the jawline, filler redraws a cleaner line between the face and the neck, which softens the look of jowls. At the chin, a little projection balances the nose and lips.
Precision is essential to keep proportions harmonious and natural, for women and men alike. See jawline filler and chin filler.
4. The under-eyes: for carefully selected cases
The hollow under the eyes is the most delicate area. We only treat it when the right anatomy is present: thick enough skin, little or no puffiness, good skin quality. When it's the right indication, filler helps soften shadows and a tired look.
When it isn't, it can cause swelling or a bluish tint. This is often an area where we'll honestly tell you that another treatment, like PRF for dark circles, will suit you better. See under-eye filler.
Why the order matters
We usually start with structure (temples, cheeks, jawline) before details (smile lines, lips, under-eyes). Once support is restored, you often need much less product in the detail areas, and sometimes none at all.
That's the logic behind the Hollywood Face: spreading small amounts across several areas rather than putting a lot in one spot.
How many syringes for a lifting effect?
It depends on your face, your age and your goals. As a guide:
- A light refresh: 1 to 2 syringes, often at the cheeks or temples.
- A structural plan: 3 to 4 syringes spread across temples, cheeks and jawline.
- A full plan: the Hollywood Face, 6 syringes for the whole face.
We often prefer to work over two appointments: it's easy to add product, and harder to take it away.
What if the skin is sagging?
Filler restores volume, not skin quality. If your skin has lost firmness, we often combine it with a biostimulator (Sculptra), which stimulates your own collagen, or with radiofrequency microneedling (Morpheus8), available in Boisbriand. We go into detail in our article on sagging facial skin.

FAQ
Can filler replace a surgical facelift?
No. It can create a subtle lifting effect by restoring support to the face, but it doesn't remove excess skin. In consultation, we'll tell you honestly what's realistic for you.
How long does it last?
Depending on the area and the product, generally 6 to 18 months. Areas that move less, like the temples and chin, often last longer.
Does it hurt?
Most products contain a local anesthetic, and we can apply a numbing cream. You mostly feel pressure.
Will I bruise?
It's possible, for a few days. Plan your treatment at least two weeks before an event. Also read what not to do after your treatments.
Where is it offered?
At all four of our clinics: Montreal (Little Italy), Boisbriand, Trois-Rivières and Beauharnois.
