Sculptra: the treatment that puts your own collagen to work

How it works

Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible, resorbable substance. Once injected deep in the skin, it gradually stimulates collagen production. The product is absorbed; the collagen your body built stays.

That's why it's called a biostimulator, not a filler. Hyaluronic acid gives an immediate result by adding volume. Sculptra gives a progressive result by improving the quality and firmness of the tissue.

Sculptra is not injected into the lips or around the eyes.

What to expect

• The plan: usually 2 or 3 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart. The number of vials depends on your face and goals.
• Right after: mild swelling can look like an instant result, but it fades within a few days. That's normal.
• The result: it develops over 2 to 3 months, then keeps improving. It can last up to about 2 years.
• After each session: you'll be asked to massage the area for a few days, often following the "5-5-5" rule (5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days). It helps spread the product evenly.
• Downtime: possible swelling or bruising for a few days.
