The brightening peel: a brighter, more even complexion

Brown spots, dull skin, small marks left by old breakouts: the brightening peel is one of the simplest treatments to bring back glow and an even tone. Here's how it works, who it's for and how to care for your skin afterwards.

What is a brightening peel?

A peel is a chemical exfoliation: a solution is applied to remove dead cells on the surface of the skin and stimulate its renewal. The brightening version mainly targets your complexion: it helps fade pigment spots and makes the skin look brighter and more even. At the clinic, we work with professional Myriade products.

Who is it for?

  • A dull or uneven complexion
  • Brown spots caused by the sun or time
  • Marks left by old breakouts
  • Skin that has lost its glow after summer

Before the treatment, your practitioner checks that the peel is right for you, for example if your skin is irritated, if you've tanned recently or if you use certain products or medications.

How does the session go?

1. Cleansing and preparing the skin.
2. Applying the peel, with the eyes protected.
3. Removing it, then applying a soothing treatment and sun protection.

During the session: the mask is applied and the eyes are protected.

Plan for about 60 minutes. The most common sensation is a light tingling or warmth that fades quickly.

Right after the treatment

Right after the peel: mild redness is normal.

Mild redness and warmth are normal for a few hours. Depending on your skin, light flaking may appear over the following days. Don't pick at peeling skin: let it come off on its own.

Good habits after a peel

  • Sun protection every day, even in winter
  • Moisturize morning and night
  • No irritating products (retinol, exfoliants, scrubs) for a few days
  • Avoid intense heat (sauna, spa) and intense workouts for 24 to 48 hours

Your practitioner will give you instructions suited to your skin.

How many sessions?

One session already leaves your skin fresher. For spots, a series of a few sessions a few weeks apart is often recommended; the exact number is set during your assessment. The brightening peel is $180 per session. Fall and winter are the best seasons to start: read also It's peel season.
